Upcoming at FPC!

Take Me Out To The Ballgame – Faith and Family Night at the NJ Jackals, Saturday, July 14 @ 6:00 p.m. (game start time).  FPC Boonton’s own Brian Lanigan is the voice of the Jackals! Don’t miss this great event at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls.  Tickets are only $12 a person, and there will be free fireworks at the end of the game.  Sign up on the bridge OR reach out to Trish Herrera at 973.299.9513 or

Battle of Soissons Worship Service – July 22 in celebration of the American-French victory.  The previous church steeple bell cracked when it was repeatedly run on July 22, 1918.  The bell lives now on the right of the Birch Street Church entrance.  The bell lists all the members of the church who were serving in WW I at the time, as well as four who died in battle.  The service will include music with bells and chimes, and a contest for the kids to ring the current bell in the belfry which takes tremendous strength and timing!

Church-Wide Family Picnic – Sunday, August 5 immediately following church.  We will be at the park in Montville again this year.  Sign up is outside of the library, on the bulletin board.  We will supply the burgers and dogs, the church community will provide the sides.  Lots of events and fun to be had!  Spread the word and mark your calendars.

INTERESTED IN JOINING FIRST CHURCH? There is a new members’ class forming; if you are interested or want more information please contact Rev. Jen at or the church office / 973-334-3535.

Watching for Rainbows

Dear Saints, In the wake of this week’s media outbreaks of racial and personal attacks I am feeling just plain disgusted. I hope I am not alone. While I believe everyone has a right to their opinion, we seem to have lost not only a sense of human decency, we have also clearly lost our way. Sadly, this is not the only week I am deeply disheartened by the barbs, mudslinging and despicable behavior this week felt like a tipping point. Words are no longer a vehicle to communicate and build up community but a way to wield power over ...
