1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
God takes care of me just as a shepherd takes care of his flock. He protects, corrects and guides, provides rest and refreshment, comforts, gives me inner peace and hope, and will always be with me.
I worked with two people to create and build a successful start-up business, and after 18 years they showed me the door. I was VERY angry with them, but a really good friend prayed with me and reminded me that God was in this. It took me a few days to calm down and a few more days to realize that God had rescued me from a very toxic environment. Finally, after about ten days I had an inner peace and an inner knowing that God was indeed in this. Two weeks after having been let go I woke up thinking about a website. I went to the website, saw a job listing that I knew was meant for me at this stage in my life, and I have been thriving there ever since. God is truly amazing. He does indeed protect, correct, guide, comfort, give inner peace, and provide everything I need. God is love!
Jesus knew the scriptures. It is awesome to think that he prayed this psalm. He knew God was with him, even when he went to the cross.
Help me to remember every day that you are my shepherd. Amen.
