Abide in My Love

March 7

John 15:9-11

9As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. 10If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

Daily Reflection

I have always tried to live life following Jesus. It has not always been easy. I am sure most of us can admit to that, but after reading these verses we can see that God has set up parameters regarding the way we should live. If we live by these boundaries we are assured of God’s love always. We will live life to the fullest and have joy to the fullest.

When I was raising my girls, I would often say to them, “I want you to be in the world but not of the world.” That meant to me that you need to see what is going on but not always be part of it. Don’t follow others for immediate gratification. Life pressures us to conform to the world’s standards but will end up robbing us of the joy we can have by following Jesus. Do we want to walk this earth without the joy that comes from following God’s commands? Without achieving His fullest joy?

After reading these verses we can see that God loves us unconditionally and we can achieve His fullest joy by following his commands. Seems easy doesn’t it? We can achieve it if we take it one day at a time and enjoy the joy He puts into our lives every single day. Just look for it!

Daily Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We ask you to help keep us on tract to follow your commands. It is not always easy to make decisions that will not conform to the world. We are so human and full of faults and shortcomings but you forgive our worldliness and give us a new start each day. Help us to have the desire and strength to keep on the path and achieve your fullest joy each and every day.  Amen.
