The Lord’s Prayer, Matthew 6:9-13

9”Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.10Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.11Give us this day our daily bread. 12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.”

Daily Reflection

The Celtic community, Casa del Sol, which meets on the Ghost Ranch property in Northern New Mexico and is led by John Philip Newell, has rephrased and rewritten The Lord’s Prayer, calling their rewrite the “Prayer of Jesus.”

“Ground of all being, Mother of life, Father of the Universe

Your name is sacred, beyond speaking.

May we know your presence,

may your longings be our longings in heart and in action.

May there be food for the human family today

and for the whole earth community.

Forgive us for the falseness of what we have done

as we forgive those who are untrue to us.

Do not forsake us in our time of conflict

but lead us into new beginnings.

For the light of life, the vitality of life, and the glory of life

are yours, now and forever.  Amen

Daily Prayer

May the vitality of the God of life, the passion of the Christ of love, the wakefulness of the Spirit of justice, be ours this day, that we may be fully alive.  Amen.
