But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
This verse is SO comforting to me; I believe it means that no matter what trials and tribulations you’re going through right now, God will always “have your back”. As everyone ages, we have things we go through – but God is always there, like reading a good book while snuggling under a warm blanket on a snowy day. He’ll help you as you struggle through the scary times, the devastating times, the oh-my-God-is-this-really-happening times. Maybe you want to talk? He’s a really good listener. Maybe you want to sit quietly? He’s a comforting being.
Sometimes all a person needs
is a hand to hold
and a heart to understand.
God is calming, consoling, relieving, soothing – whatever you need to get you through those trials of yours. Talk to Him – He’ll listen!
This is from our Hymnal that makes me feel very comforted….
O, for a closer walk with God,
A calm and heavenly frame,
A light to shine upon the road
That leads me to the Lord!
